Documented history
Rumani is a recognised Tamil Nadu cultivar. In later breeding work it became a parent of AU Rumani with Mulgoa, and of Manjeera with Neelum. These are new hybrids, not replacement names for the older mango.
The original naming story is not established in the sources checked. Its documented descendants show why keeping older varieties matters: their qualities can become part of the next generation.
