A mango named for Gary’s wife

Planting number 35-6 became a personal dedication.

Giselle — Boynton Beach, Florida, United States

Documented history

Giselle came from Gary Zill’s breeding programme in Boynton Beach. It began as planting number 35-6, a seedling of a mango called Tower, and was named after Gary’s wife.

The grower who introduced it to Tropical Acres described it as a juice mango. The detail that matters most here is the change from an orchard number to a person’s name. Every tree propagated under that name carries a small family dedication into someone else’s garden.
