A second generation, a much smaller stone
Documented history: consult the claims and qualifications in the cited sources.
Sindhu was released in 1992 from Ratna × Alphonso. Ratna was already a Neelum–Alphonso hybrid, so this second cross returned the family to Alphonso.
The resulting fruit is known for a very thin, small stone. “Seedless” is sometimes used loosely in popular accounts; the institutional description is more precise. Its small stone is the outcome of a traceable breeding story, not a missing piece of the fruit.
