A southern favourite kept in the collection
Documented name: the history of the first tree remains unresolved.
Mulgoa is recorded in southern horticulture and was among the mangoes ICAR–IIHR shared with visitors at its 2019 diversity exhibition. The familiar variety sat beside newer hybrids: a small public celebration of the diversity growers have kept.
The sources checked here do not securely identify Mulgoa’s first tree or establish every similarly spelled overseas mango as the same cultivar. We preserve the documented South Indian name without smoothing away that uncertainty.
