# A Florida mango finds Brazilian orchards

Palmer’s Brazilian chapter is a story of adoption.

Palmer — Florida → Brazil

Documented history

Palmer originated in Florida; Embrapa’s historical cultivar guide dates its selection to 1925. Its presence in Brazil reflects the movement of planting material between tropical fruit-growing regions.

In a later Embrapa trial at Lençóis, Bahia, Palmer and the Brazilian Ubá both performed well under organic management. Two different histories could share the same orchard.
