# Familiar parents, a different direction

Arka Puneet reverses the parent order used for Arka Aruna and has its own identity.

Arka Puneet — ICAR–IIHR, Bengaluru, Karnataka

Documented history

Arka Puneet is the Alphonso × Banganapalli hybrid developed at IIHR. Its sibling in this directory, Arka Aruna, uses the parents in the opposite order. Each is a separately selected variety.

The cross matters because some secondary lists mix Puneet up with Arka Anmol, whose parentage is Alphonso × Janardhan Pasand. The university and breeder records keep the family story clear: Puneet belongs to the Alphonso–Banganapalli pairing.

## The names it answers to

**Arka Puneet / Arka Puneeth**

Spellings used in institutional records.

**Alphonso × Banganapalli**

The supported parentage; Arka Anmol is a different hybrid.
