# A mango inseparable from El Caney

Bizcochuelo’s strongest history is its place.

Bizcochuelo — Valle del Caney, Santiago de Cuba

Local tradition

Cuba’s technical manual ties Bizcochuelo to longstanding cultivation in the Valle del Caney, near Santiago de Cuba. It describes a regional fruit whose quality and success can change when grown elsewhere.

The same manual calls its origin unknown. A possible arrival with Haitian migrants is reported as a possibility, not an established pedigree. Local significance is well documented even when ancestry is not.

## The names it answers to

**Bizcochuelo**

Spelling used in Cuba’s technical mango manual for the Caney-associated variety.

**Biscochuelo**
