The long, generous fruit offers smooth, fragrant flesh. It arrives early from Sindh, followed by fruit from Punjab. Its comparatively gentle sweetness makes a ripe cheek an easy first taste. Slice the broad cheeks and eat them plain. Blend very soft ripe pieces into a milkshake. ## When it is ripe Look for yellow skin, a sweet stem-end scent, and a little give at the shoulders. Long, large fruit with yellow skin and smooth yellow flesh. Check scent and a gentle give as well as colour. Flavour notes are subjective. Ripeness, handling and growing conditions change the fruit. Pakistan’s cluster study places Sindhri at the centre of the mango-growing belt around Mirpur Khas.
