## A big fruit on a smaller tree

Documented history: consult the claims and qualifications in the cited sources.

Arka Aruna came from Banganapalli × Alphonso at the Indian Institute of Horticultural Research. Its compact tree and generous fruit made it an attractive possibility for gardens and closer planting.

The breeding record gives this mango a traceable family. It also reminds us that the people creating mango heritage include researchers who wait through many seasons to see what one carefully chosen cross will become.
