## How to enjoy it

Haitian Corne has an elongated shape and a fibrous bite. Its sweet pulp makes sense in a drink; strain after blending if you prefer a smoother texture.

Open over a bowl to catch the juice. Scoop the ripe flesh; strain blended pulp if you prefer less fibre.

## When it is ripe

Wait for the long fruit to turn yellow and become fragrant.

Flavour notes are subjective. Ripeness, handling and growing conditions change the fruit.

## One name, more than one local mango

Documented name: the history of the first tree remains unresolved.

Corne is a Haitian mango name, but the record contains a useful warning against flattening local knowledge. Tropical Acres Farms reports that the fruit it grows as Corne is called Jean Marie in parts of Haiti, while northern Haiti has a differently shaped mango also called Corne.

The grower’s observation gives this entry its story: names can travel farther than the knowledge needed to identify them. We retain both names with that qualification. Neither a single first tree nor one universal identity for every Haitian Corne is established by the sources here.
